In the world of art, the best ideas often arise unexpectedly, born from serendipity or mishap. This was precisely the case with the collages in the Summer Collection. It all began with playful experimentation on hand-torn paper—tiny landscapes, abstracted faces, and a sprinkling of pure abstraction. One particular abstract piece showed immense promise but yearned for another layer, a new dimension. Thus emerged the collage series, where paint skins were delicately layered atop these initial abstracts, transforming experiment into art.

So, what exactly is a paint skin, you wonder? Well, when I'm in my studio mixing paint on my palette, I don't simply wipe it clean when I'm done. I layer new colors over dried paint, again and again, until the layers build up into a rich, tactile texture. Eventually, the paint becomes so thick that it can be peeled off in pieces. These unique fragments, aptly named paint skins, capture the essence of my creative process—layers upon layers of color and texture, each telling a story of its own. They're not just remnants; they're the tangible remnants of my artistic journey, waiting to be transformed into something new and expressive.
